Speech Delivered at City Hall Edmonton to Commemorate 100% Accessibility

The measure of accessibility should not be measured in good looks, rather graceful transformation and inclusion for all citizens of every ability. This marks a day to embrace accessibility, inclusion, self esteem in a thriving city that includes everyone’s needs; this is one giant leap of inclusion building my self esteem personally, one less barrier to fear and more opportunity to travel to desired points without fear of non inclusion. more…

Speech delivered to the Students of Dr.Susan Burwash(MSCOT) University of Alberta

Rose Kennedy was quoted as saying “It has been said time heals all wounds, I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind protecting its sanity covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.”A quote that rings true to me, and probably thousands of others who have suffered an injury. There are therapists and there are terrorists. The motions of therapy are as confusing to the client as they are to the professional. Of course you will embark on your careers with the finest skills, terminology, even evidence of what may or may not work, and at times it may be frustrating for you, but I can guarantee it is far more frustrating for the person you’re working with. more…

Glenrose Honorarium Speech

I am honoured to be speaking here to the accepted individuals who have embarked on a career in this amazing facility we call “The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. I fondly refer to it as an institute of hope. I became a resident of the Glenrose, for a 48 day rehabilitation program. I arrived frightened, confused, and fearful of my future; never did I imagine this podium would be a symbol of the strength I learned here. more…

Beginning of my Journey (Vancouver British Columbia)

I have invited politicians, survivors, media in the much needed injury prevention and outcome after injury journey I am about to embark on. % of injury is easily preventable; we have to enforce regulations, laws instead of following suggestions. Guidelines, requirements for protection and education are easy; the outcome after preventable injury is an outstanding deficit to this country, we have to stop BAND-AIDING the problem and look for a prevention measure, an outcome that EVERY citizen can access. more…
